DRAGON OF REVELATION

The seven-headed ‘dragon’ in Revelation represents the 7 churches of Asia and their wayward ways in indulgent cooperation with the power of evil (Lucifer, The Shining One). This doesn’t mean that evil (the son of the fallen Morning Star) is a literal dragon; the seven heads, ten horns, and seven crowns are symbolic. The problems in the seven churches ranged from a loss of love and general apathy to full-scale apostasy.  the church in Pergamos held those loyal to Y’shua, however, the was some troubling issues with inserting the “doctrine of Balaam” (verse14), and the “doctrine of the Nicolaitans” (verse 15), which of course was in direct conflict with the Frist of the 10 Commandments. “Balaam” is a diviner hired by the Moabite king, Balak, to curse the people of Israel, but G-d causes him to bless Israel instead (Numbers 22–24). Unable to curse Israel directly, Balaam taught Balak how to seduce the men of Israel to commit idolatry, thus causing them to bring a curse on themselves.

“The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.” - {Book of Hhazon/Revelation 1:20}

A HORN, in the Bible, is a symbol of power or strength. Thus, the dragon is powerful. The ten horns also harken back to Daniel’s vision in Daniel 7. A HEAD is a sign of power or authority, and this creature has seven of them. CROWNS are a symbol of kingship; the fallen son of the Morning Star is attempting to set himself up as a king in opposition to G-d. The Greek word that is translated to “dragon” here is “drakon,” and doesn’t exactly fit our modern imagery of a dragon. The drakon in Greek was understood as a type of mythological serpent—referring directly back to the serpent (Hebrew “nachash”) in the garden of Eden who deceived Adam and Eve (Genesis 3).

Both “Balaam” and “Nicolaitan” can mean “to conquer the people.” The Balaamites and Nicolaitans were apparently two distinct groups who held essentially the same philosophy. As Balaam of old taught Balak how to “conquer the people” through seduction, the Balaamites and Nicolaitans in Pergamos attempted to conquer the people of G-d (for Evil; Lucifer) through encouraging them to compromise with paganism. The church in Sardis had a few faithful members, but it was essentially a dead (faithless) church;

And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of G-d, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before G-d. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.” - {Book of Hhazom/Revelation 3:1-4} Y’shua Ha’ Mashiach (Jesus, our Messiah) Christ warns, “Be watchful, and strengthen the things that remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before G-d” (verse 2). To be “watchful” means to be vigilant —to remain at all times in a state of preparedness. This is what the Christians at Sardis had failed to do.

Y’shua’s warning was clear: “Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth” (verse 16). “Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.” - {Book of Hhazon/Revelation 1:11}

Within Revelation in the imagery of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet, Revelation 13 shows that Evil (Lucifer) will create a sort of unholy trinity in opposition to the true Trinity. “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” - (Book of Hhazon/Revelation 12:7-9} The dragon of Revelation 12 details the dragon’s exploits attempting to lead a rebellion against G-d and attempting to destroy a mysterious woman and child. Revelation 13 tells of the dragon falling in league with two other beasts to deceive the world.

A Happy Ending: And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.” - {Book of Hhazon/Revelation 20:1-3} tTe dragon, will be thrown into the lake of fire and remain there eternally. After tossing death and Hades in after him (Revelation 20:14), G[d will establish the new heaven and the new earth in perfection.
